Saravasti
Saravasti, located in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, is an ancient city with deep spiritual significance in Buddhism. It is one of the major pilgrimage sites associated with the life and teachings of Lord Buddha.
According to Buddhist tradition, Saravasti is where Lord Buddha spent the largest amount of time during his monastic life and delivered many of his sermons. It is said that Lord Buddha performed several miracles in Saravasti, including the “twin miracle” of manifesting his own image in two places simultaneously and levitating in the air.
One of the most important landmarks in Saravasti is the Jetavana Monastery, also known as Jetavana Vihara, which was donated to Lord Buddha by a wealthy merchant named Anathapindika. The Jetavana Monastery is believed to be the site where Lord Buddha spent many rainy seasons and delivered numerous discourses.
Another significant site in Saravasti is the Ananda Bodhi Tree, which is said to have been planted by Ananda, one of Lord Buddha’s chief disciples. It is believed that Lord Buddha spent a considerable amount of time meditating under this tree and imparting teachings to his followers.
Saravasti is also home to several other Buddhist monasteries, stupas, and shrines, including the Gandhakuti (Buddha’s hut), Angulimala’s stupa, and the Koshambi stupa. These sites are revered by Buddhists and attract pilgrims from around the world seeking spiritual solace and enlightenment.
In addition to its religious significance, Saravasti is known for its serene and tranquil atmosphere, which makes it an ideal place for meditation and contemplation. Visitors to Saravasti can immerse themselves in the peaceful surroundings and explore the rich heritage of Buddhism through ancient relics, sculptures, and scriptures.
Overall, Saravasti is a sacred pilgrimage destination that holds immense importance in Buddhist tradition. It is a place where visitors can connect with the teachings of Lord Buddha and experience a sense of peace and serenity amidst the ancient ruins and sacred monuments.

Cultural Tours
Tourism is travel for pleasure or business; also the theory and practice of touring, the business of attracting, accommodating, and entertaining tourists, and the business of operating tours. Tourism may be international, or within the traveller’s country. The World Tourism Organization defines tourism more generally, in terms which go “beyond the common perception of tourism as being limited to holiday activity only”, as people “traveling to and staying in places outside their usual environment for not more than one consecutive year for leisure, business and other purposes”.
Tourism can be domestic or international, and international tourism has both incoming and outgoing implications on a country’s balance of payments. Today, tourism is a major source of income for many countries, and affects the economy of both the source and host countries, in some cases being of vital importance.
